Weekly Pursuit 23 - Shine

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan

Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time.

Hey friend,

You don’t have to stand on a stage to make a difference. You just have to be willing to shine where God has placed you.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)

Notice He didn’t say you might become the light someday. He said you are the light. If you belong to Jesus, His light is already at work in you. The question is whether the people around you can see it.

Your workplace. Your classroom. Your home. The checkout line. The conversation nobody else wants to have. The person who feels overlooked. The friend who’s having a hard week.

These aren’t interruptions to your mission. They’re opportunities to live it out.

And here’s the challenge: What if you stopped waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a difference and started paying attention to the opportunities God has already put in front of you?

You don’t have to preach a sermon or have all the right words. Sometimes shining the light of Jesus looks like choosing patience when you’re frustrated. Showing kindness when it isn’t returned. Listening when someone needs to be heard. Speaking hope when everyone else is speaking negativity. Or simply being the person who notices someone everyone else walks past.

You never know what God might do through one small act of obedience.

So this week, don’t just go through your routine. Go with a mission. Ask God to help you see people the way He sees them, and then do something about it. Let your words, your attitude, and your actions point people toward Jesus.

You might be the closest someone gets to seeing Jesus today. Make it count.

Praying,
Ryan

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

Faith in the Pit

Faith It | Week 2

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, Over the past few weeks as a church, we have been diving into a series called "Faith It." We've been studying the life of Joseph (in Genesis) and his journey toward becoming the second most influential person of his time. It's been a fun journey so far (and we're just getting started - WOO!). One thing that I wanted to establish as we began this series is defining the...

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, What if the thing you’re waiting for isn’t more clarity? What if it’s faith? Joseph had a dream from God, but he had no idea how it would happen. He couldn’t see the pit, the prison, or the palace. He just knew God had given him something worth believing in. That’s the thing about faith. Faith is an internal decision that leads to an external position that can have...

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, Have you ever wondered what the point of all this is? Not just church. I mean all of it. Why are we here? What are we actually supposed to spend our lives doing? We fill our calendars, build careers, raise families, chase goals, make money, take vacations, watch another season of our favorite show, scroll way too long on our phones, and somehow hope that somewhere in the...
