Weekly Pursuit 24 - A Prayer of Faith

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan

Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time.

Hey friend,

Over the past few weeks as a church, we have been diving into a series called "Faith It." We've been studying the life of Joseph (in Genesis) and his journey toward becoming the second most influential person of his time. It's been a fun journey so far (and we're just getting started - WOO!).

One thing that I wanted to establish as we began this series is defining the word "FAITH." You see, faith is something that I believe is more powerful than any of us even realize. And yet so often we view faith in a similar light as blowing out our birthday candles as a kid or buying a lottery ticket at the gas station.

Faith is bigger than fairy tales.
Faith is bigger than coincidence.
Faith has eternal ramifications.

The Greek word that we often translate to faith in the Bible is πίστις (pistis) or πιστεύω (pisteuō). One is a noun. One is a verb. Both are radically powerful.

Why is this important?

I believe that understanding the meaning of faith will help us begin to grasp the power of faith. You see, faith (pistis; noun) the size of a mustard seed can move mountains (Mt. 17) and faith (pisteuō; verb) is what we need in order to have eternal life (Jn. 3).

Faith is powerful.

So today, I don't want to write too much of my thoughts.

I want to challenge you to pray a prayer.
A simple prayer.
A powerful prayer.

Here it is:

"Lord, increase my faith. Amen."

Maybe you need faith for a healing.
Maybe you need faith for your finances.
Maybe you need faith for your career.
Maybe you need faith for your grief.
Maybe you need faith for _____________.

The truth is, I don't know what you're needing faith for today...
But I know where you're needing to put your faith.

Turn to Him.
Trust in Him.
Watch Him move in miraculous ways.

Lord, increase our faith.
Amen.

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Luke 17:5 (NIV)

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, You don’t have to stand on a stage to make a difference. You just have to be willing to shine where God has placed you. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14) Notice He didn’t say you might become the light someday. He said you are the light. If you belong to Jesus, His light is already at work in you. The question is whether the people around you...

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, What if the thing you’re waiting for isn’t more clarity? What if it’s faith? Joseph had a dream from God, but he had no idea how it would happen. He couldn’t see the pit, the prison, or the palace. He just knew God had given him something worth believing in. That’s the thing about faith. Faith is an internal decision that leads to an external position that can have...

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time. ryanspencerlutz.com Hey friend, Have you ever wondered what the point of all this is? Not just church. I mean all of it. Why are we here? What are we actually supposed to spend our lives doing? We fill our calendars, build careers, raise families, chase goals, make money, take vacations, watch another season of our favorite show, scroll way too long on our phones, and somehow hope that somewhere in the...
