Weekly Pursuit 06 - Taking the Next Step

WEEKLY PURSUIT with Ryan

Helping you pursue God, people, and purpose - one step at a time.

Hey friend,

I've been thinking a lot lately about how following Jesus is usually less about giant leaps and more about small steps. Sometimes we imagine that faith begins when we have everything figured out. When all our questions are answered. When we've cleaned up our lives. When we're finally "ready."

But that's rarely how it works.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus had a simple invitation:

"Follow me."

Not, "Figure everything out first."
Not, "Get your life together and then come back."

Just... take the next step.

I think that invitation is still available today... to you and I.

For some people, that next step is exploring more of who Jesus really is.
For others, it's coming back after years of distance.
For some, it's trusting Him for the very first time.
And for many of us who have been following Jesus for years, it's simply taking the next step of obedience right in front of us.

One thing I've learned is that Jesus meets us wherever we are, but He loves us too much to leave us there.

He invites us forward.

Forward in trust.
Forward in surrender.
Forward in faith.

Maybe your next step is spending a few minutes each day with God.
Maybe it's praying honestly for the first time in a long time.
Maybe it's letting go of something that's been pulling you away from Him.
Or maybe it's sharing your faith with someone who needs hope.

The people around us are carrying burdens we can't always see. They're searching for purpose, peace, hope, and belonging. And many of them will never walk into a church building... but they might listen to a friend.

You don't need all the answers to point someone toward Jesus.

You just need to be willing to take the next step.

The beautiful thing about following Jesus is that He doesn't ask us to finish the journey today. He simply invites us to keep walking with Him.

One step at a time.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
